Rallye de France - Tour de Corse WRC
10 t/m 12 oktober
Locatie: Frankrijk

Cornering technique comes into its own on the dramatic, mountainous island of Corsica. The event is not nicknamed the rally of 10,000 corners for nothing. The island's capital, Ajaccio, is home to Rally HQ for the weekend. First held in 1956 the route still winds its way up into the mountains above Ajaccio.

Rally drivers must thread the thin line between the towering cliffs on one side and the gut-wrenching drops on the other. The abrasive roads are hard on tyres, yet they can also be dirty, meaning a lack of grip. This event is run on roads which never seem to stop changing direction, unlike in Spain whose straight roads tend to interlink the corners. It's definitely a rally for the asphalt specialists and only four non-French drivers have come away with victory in the past 20 years.

New for 2008

Coming the weekend after Spain, Corsica is the only back-to-back rally fixture of this season and the last for the foreseeable future in world championship rallying.
