October 2004, the organization team of the Boucles de Spa Alphonse Delettre, heavy-hearted, announced that they won’t organize their event in 2005.
The year 2005 was put to good use to confer and for a deep questioning. That’s how was deeply restructured this real motorsport national history for which a whole area is strongly attached.
On 4th & 5th February 2006 (back to the original date of the first week-end of February), Spa will recover the cars that marked the moments of Glory of its fetish rally.
From the gardens of the Casino, legends rally cars until 1st January 1987 will rush to regularity stages with “select sectors” in the manner of “Monte Carlo Classic” and “East African Safari” in Kenya.
The Clementine will make its come back and moreover, in the night… The famous “peket”, at night, in the middle of the woods, it’s quite a undertaking !
The allowed cars stretch from the beginning to 1986 : such as Alpine Renault, Lancia Stratos, Fiat Abarth, Opel Manta 400, Audi Quattro, Lancia 037, etc… that made us dream and get us going, will be back among a lot of others.
The schedule is as previous standards with arrival in the night from Saturday to Sunday under marquee in Spa. The prize giving will take place on Sunday as in the good old days.
The target of entrants is the old Belgian and foreign glories who made the legend as Jean Ragnotti, Stig Blomqvist, Bjorn Waldegaard, Michèle Mouton, etc . These are the real motive force but we also think about young pensioned rallymen, drivers from all horizons (circuit, endurance, …), some famous drivers, and finally the specialists in old cars who would like to test this new, competitive & spectacular product.
Our wish is of course to regain the public for who, rare in Belgium, the show will be free !
We wish that drivers, spectators and… organizers are there above all for their pleasure.
The spirit is first the spirit of an event. Even if the selective sections on closed roads and with secret route (only show places are indicated to the public) will satisfy competition fanatics and will contribute to a dynamic show of exceptional cars.
These last years, how many times did we heard: “It was better before”. Those disappointed may look forward, the “Legend Boucle de Spa” will take place exactly as 20 years ago. The elders might finally show to their children the golden age of the rally.
